SuperSport.com–Colombia’s World Cup revelation James Rodriguez was unveiled as Real Madrid’s latest headline signing in front of tens of thousands of fans at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. Rodriguez, the top scorer at the World Cup in Brazil, has moved to the European champions from Monaco on a six-season contract. Spanish media said Real paid about €80 million for the 23-year-old playmaker, which if correct would make him the fifth most expensive player in history after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

Danielle Joynson writes for Sports Mole.co.uk–Colombian popstar Shakira has released her own song for the World Cup in Brazil, which features her boyfriend and Spain star Gerard Pique. The singer released an anthem for the 2010 tournament, but has followed it up with ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’ ahead of the competition, which gets underway on June 12. As well as cameo appearances from Pique and the couple’s son Milan in the music video, the Spanish defender’s Barcelona teammates Lionel MessiCesc Fabregas and Neymar also feature. Sergio AgueroEric Abidal and Radamel Falcao also joined in with the music video.

This sum does not include the cost of bi-monthly flights from Brazil to Barcelona for a group  of Neymar’s friends, so he doesn’t get lonesome so far from home. The new forward’s objetive in Barcelona is to repeat the success of his compatriots who have played previously: Romário, Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho.

At the age of 19, Neymar won the 2011 South American Footballer of the Year award after coming third in 2010. He won it again in 2012. In 2011 Neymar received nominations for the FIFA Ballon d’Or, where he came 10th, and the FIFA Puskás Award, which he won. More…
