Last month Iran signed an agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. According to the agreement, “Spain will share its experience in hotel construction and converting historical buildings into guesthouses, and will also encourage Spanish shareholders to invest in Iran’s hotel industry.” Iran’s 35% annual surge in number of foreign tourists is attributed mainly to president’s drive to mend ties with West.
i24news.tv–Iran’s top tourism official says the number of foreigners visiting the country has jumped dramatically over the 12-month period ending in March, with 35 percent more tourists compared to the same period a year earlier, according to an Associated Press report. The Director of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO), Masoud Soltanifar, said on state TV Saturday the 4.5 million foreign tourists that came to the Islamic Republic over the period brought in some $6 billion in revenue.
